Rattled AC Milan go for Chelsea's Drogba, Sheva

After their shock Champions League elimination last night, AC Milan are ready to open talks today with Chelsea for striker Didier Drogba.
Milan representatives will be in London this morning to make a formal approach to Chelsea for the unsettled Ivory Coast ace.
Milan want to move quickly for Drogba, well aware that Barcelona are also in the frame for the centre-forward.
Drogba's teammate, Andriy Shevchenko, is also on Milan's agenda. Sheva would love a return to the Rossoneri, but any deal would depend on Chelsea keeping their asking price to a nominal fee.

Real Madrid watching Ballack's Chelsea situation

Real Madrid are being linked with Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack.
The Germany captain faces the axe for tonight's Champions League clash with Olympiacos and the development may force Ballack to consider his future.
Real Madrid, under German coach Bernd Schuster, have not given up hope of signing him while a return to Bayern Munich is not out of the question following their appointment of Jurgen Klinsmann as manager from next season.
Last summer, when the 31-year-old was out with a persistent ankle injury, Real were keen, but he decided to stay after the Chelsea hierarchy assured the midfielder that he was still very much part of their plans.

Chelsea's Lampard to see ban scrapped

The three-week suspension for Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will be scrapped today.
Lampard's ban will be rescinded by the FA today after blundering referee Peter Walton admitted he made a mistake when he sent off the Chelsea star.
Lampard was shown the red card after assistant referee Guy Beale claimed the midfielder was guilty of violent conduct by pushing West Ham midfielder Luis Boa Morte in the chest.
Walton dismissed Lampard, but the referee has since reviewed the match video and told FA chiefs in his report that he has made a mistake.

AC Milan president Berlusconi: I want Chelsea's Shevchenko

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi admits he wants to bring Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko back to the San Siro.
Reports in Italy have linked the Ukraine international with a return to the San Siro this summer as a possible replacement for injured Ronaldo.
And Berlusconi said on Monday: "It has always been a dream of mine that he could finish his career at Milan.
"I love him like a son. If he wanted to return and if the rules allowed us to, considering with Pato's arrival we have full the number of our (non-EU) players, Milan would welcome him back with open arms."

Chelsea trials for Chinese prospects

Chelsea have handed trials to four Chinese youngsters after establishing a partnership with the Super Soccer Star TV programme.
The Super Soccer Star programme will be broadcast in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong next month, and the lucky quartet who are judged to have the most promise will then visit Chelsea's academy at Cobham in Surrey and their Stamford Bridge ground.
The contest is open to players aged between 14 and 16 and is another component of Chelsea's bid to boost their profile and presence in the Far East.
They are already the official football development partner of the Asian Football Confederation's Vision China project, which aims to set up 10 city leagues in China.
Blues chief executive Peter Kenyon said: "We are delighted to be involved in such an innovative project that helps us deliver on our continuing commitment to promote grass roots football amongst youngsters in China.
"The show complements our involvement in Vision China with the AFC as well as showcasing Chelsea to a large audience and we look forward to hosting the finalists of Super Soccer Star in England."

Chelsea to appeal Lampard dismissal

Chelsea will make an appeal against Frank Lampard's dismissal against West Ham on Saturday.
The Stamford Bridge club must lodge their protest with the FA by lunchtime today if they are to have any chance of the three-match ban being overturned.
Lampard was sent off after an assistant referee told match ref Peter Walton that he slapped Luis Boa Morte in the face.
Chelsea will argue it was a gentle shove in the chest and worthy of no more than a yellow card.
As long as Walton accurately recounts the same version in his match report, then the automatic red card will be downgraded.
Captain John Terry said: "It was very harsh. Peter Walton is a very clever referee and very good as well. I'm sure he'll look at it again."

Chelsea, Man Utd battle for USA sensation Altidore

Chelsea and Manchester United have joined the battle for USA sensation Jozy Altidore.
The Premier League giants, along with Manchester City, are all checking striker Altidore, 18, who is wowing crowds watching New York Red Bulls.
In 18 months in the MSL, Altidore has grabbed 13 goals in 33 appearances for Red Bulls and hit 19 goals in 25 games for the U.S. Under-17s.
Jozy, whose parents are from Haiti, scored on his senior debut in a friendly against Mexico three months ago. Altidore is regarded as a better prospect than Freddy Adu, who had a trial with United before joining Benfica last season.

Chelsea's Shevchenko confident of AC Milan return

Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko is convinced he's moving back to AC Milan in the summer.
The Ukrainian has made little impression at Chelsea since his £30 million arrival was orchestrated by his friend Roman Abramovich and sources in Italy are insisting that he has begun house-hunting near Milan after telling friends he was on his way back to the European champions.
After AC Milan's match at Arsenal last month, Shevchenko was in conversation with the club fixer Adriano Galliani who said recently that the Italians needed another striker and that the 31-year-old 'would do fine'.
Shevchenko is believed to have told friends recently that he would 'finish his career at a side that represents my family, I'm going home'.

Capello: Chelsea's Terry, Lampard will be too strong for Greeks

England boss Fabio Capello says his stars Frank Lampard and John Terry will inspire Chelsea to a Champions League victory over Olympiacos this week.
Capello believes the disappointment of their Carling Cup Final defeat will steel Chelsea to ensure they make progress on Wednesday night against Olympiakos after a 0-0 draw in Athens in the first leg.
Capello said: "After losing at Wembley, I expect in this game it will be extremely difficult for Olympiakos to get a result. I don't think Chelsea have any injuries and they are all sure to be ready for this game.
"John Terry and Frank Lampard are both very important players. They are two symbols of this team and leaders on the pitch. It's also good for Chelsea that they now have Didier Drogba and Michael Essien back after the Africa Cup of Nations."

Chelsea move for 14 year old Palermo prospect

Chelsea are rumoured to be interested in acquiring the services of 14-year-old Giuseppe Prestia.
The youngster is currently with Serie A side Palermo and is believed to be keen on a move to English football.
The Blues have been tracking his progress for a while and have recently sent scouts to Italy to check on his development.
No move has been made as yet, but with Prestia reluctant to agree a deal with the Rosanero it looks likely that he will leave in the near future.
Any deal for the defender would represent the second time Chelsea have raided Italian top flight clubs for their young stars, having previously taken 15-year-old Vincenzo Camilleri to Stamford Bridge.
Reggina received no compensation for the player in that move and as a result have asked the Italian Football Federation and Uefa to implement regulations to help safeguard the future of young players in the country.
